Grameenphone Ltd. and Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the launch of the BlackBerry® wireless solution in Bangladesh, providing Grameenphone's customers with access to a wide range of mobile applications, including email, browsing, messaging, phone, organizer, multimedia and a wide range of other business and lifestyle applications.
Grameenphone CEO Anders Jensen said: “The BlackBerry platform is the gold standard in mobility for business users around the world. We are proud to be the first mobile operator to launch the BlackBerry wireless solution in Bangladesh, bringing in the next level of global connectivity for businesses.”
Norm Lo, Vice President of Asia Pacific at Research In Motion said, “The BlackBerry platform, together with Grameenphone’s network, will offer an innovative and powerful mobile solution that enables users to be more productive, flexible and successful in both work and life.”
Grameenphone will initially offer the BlackBerry® 8700g and the BlackBerry® Pearl™ smartphones in conjunction with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and BlackBerry® Internet Service. The BlackBerry 8700g and the BlackBerry Pearl will operate on Grameenphone’s EDGE/GPRS enabled GSM network.
