Motorola MOTO Z9 sales sheet leaks

For all that Motorola gets wrong, messes up and generally makes a fool of themselves, I still have a soft spot for the lumbering cellphone giant. Hell, my first cellphone was a StarTAC, and I’ve had a couple of other handsets with the swooping M logo since. So it’s nice to see a cellphone that actually looks to be going in the right direction (unlike the dreary announcements at the Mobile World Congress); a sales spec sheet for the MOTO Z9 has leaked out, and it shows that Motorola do actually know a little about what their target audience is wanting. In this case, it’s a quadband slider with HSDPA, A-GPS and WMP11.

Going head-to-head with Samsung’s U700 and Nokia’s 6500, the Z9 will have 45MB of internal memory and microSDHC compatibility up to 8GB, CrystalTalk background noise reduction and a 2.4-inch QVGA display. A 2-megapixel camera with flash and USB 2.0 port, together with music control keys that light up when appropriate, round out the specs.

No suggestion of release date yet, but if they’re putting sales literature together then it’s fair to assume they’ll be launching it soon.
You can see the full sales sheet here.

Motorola's Major Handset Announcements at CTIA: Kodak phone, MotoMing 2, Rokr E10 and Moto Q10?

Since officially announcing it’s new and very late Motorola Z10 flagship at CES, Motorola has been very quiet about it’s new rumored handset line-up.

Now unwiredview publish some interesting photos featuring upcoming motorola handset which will be assumed to realease during CTIA.

It is clearly a cameraphone, you can also see Kodak logo in the picture. It also seems to be a candybar with a new morphing keypad, first seen in Rokr E8 music phone. My guess - this is the new Motorola/Kodak 5 megapixel cameraphone.

And this one looks just like the Motorola A1600/ MotoMing 2 I told you in December:

There’s also Motorola Q9 Windows Mobile smartphone update with Windows Mobile 6.1 in it. Maybe - Motorola Q10?

And a new Music slider - MOTO ROKR E10?

Looks like Motorola is finally getting it’s act together with a pretty interesting new offers.

Motorola in Barcelona: Z6w and two entry phones

Motorola officially announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the release of three new mobile phones: MOTO Z6w, Motorola W161 and Motorola W181.

Motorola Z6w
Motorola Z6w is a quad-band GSM/EDGE running on the MOTOMAGX, Motorola's Linux-Java OS. With the absence of HSDPA, the most notable feature of this slider is the UMA support and Wi-Fi, which by the way is the only upgrade over the ROKR Z6.

MOTO Z6w is the latest Wi-Fi enabled handset from the American company, and with the GSM and WLAN compatibility it comes to broaden users' wireless world for making calls, Internet browsing and multimedia fun by extending beyond multiple service areas, automatically switching networks to provide high-speed wireless services.

Motorola Z6w has a 2" QVGA TFT display. As a music-oriented phone, Z6w supports Windows Media Player 11 with DRM compatibility. The Z6w carries other media must-haves like instant messaging, a 2 megapixel camera without autofocus, MP3 and MPEG-4 video player. Listening to music over stereo Bluetooth headphones is possible thanks to the Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP support. Built in storage space is 64MB, expandable via microSD cards.
Motorola W181 and W161
The other two handsets are the low-end Motorola W181 and Motorola W161. They cover the basic phone features, and come in unassuming candy bar packages.
Motorola W181 and W161 will be available in two dual-band versions. The key differences between units are in the display, dimensions, phonebook and SMS entries.
W181 has a 65K 128 x 128 pixel CSTN display, while W161 carries a monochrome display in the same resolution.

The phonebook of W181 stores up to 500 entries, while the other handset has only 200 entries. The number of stored messages varies from 750 to 200, again in favor of W181.

In terms of design, W181 has slightly elevated keys, while the W161 offers the typical flatbed keypad.

The other features and applications that both phones integrate are CrystalTalk, speakerphone, FM radio, calculator, currency converter and calendar. The phones also support 7 African languages, as along with Hindi and English.

Motorola Z12 ZiNe First pictures?

Mobile.cz is bringing now the pictures of the long rumored upcoming Motorola Z12 multimedia smartphone, that has been going under the Scarven nickname for a while now.

Earlier rumors already told that Scarven Z12 will come in the same form factor as Z8 and Z10. So, this could be really Motorola ZiNe Z12 , running Symbian UIQ OS.

Previous rumors also told that Z12 will have built-in GPS and Wi-Fi, 5 or 8 megapixel camera and 2.8″ 16M color VGA resolution touchscreen.

The picture above seems to have come from Mobile-Review forums. It appeared there shortly and was quickly removed.

Motorola Z10 smartphone finally launched

It finally happened. Motorola certainly took it’s time with launching it’s latest smartphone - MOTO Z10.
The first info about Motorola Z10 leaked way back in September with a promised launch in November on British O2 network. And the device itself was prominently featured during Symbian Smartphone show, in London, mid-October, though anyone weren’t allowed to take pictures of MOTO Z10 there.

Motorola Z10 is a solidly built handset, that feels well in your hand, is easy to carry around and operate. The camera features is the highlight of MOTO Z10, and they work really well. Pressing the dedicated key, camera loads pretty fast, the shutter speed is good as well.
And I really liked the video editor that comes bundled with Motorola Z10. The editor works great for editing short movies taken with the handset. It’s very easy to use and I was able to create short film with opening credits, text annotations, some special effects and erasing some unwanted frames within 10 minutes that I had chance to use it.

Full MOTO Z10 specs include:

  • Dual mode UMTS 2100
  • HSDPA 3.6Mbps Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE Class 12 Connectivity
  • 3.2 megapixel camera, Superfast burst mode delivers 3 shots per second
    30 fps video capture
  • 2.2” QVGA, 16m color TFT display with 30 fps video playback
  • Storyboard editing allows for combination of multiple videos, addition of soundtrack, commentary and visual effects
  • Supported file formats: AMR, AAC AAC+, MP3, WMA, 3GPP, H.263, H.264, Mpeg 4

Orange Motorola Z6m launched in Korea

This isn’t to say there are some unheard-of features in Motorola’s Z6m slider phone — it’s just that its black-orange color combination makes the device look quite cool, and that we can easily imagine it’s selling well if properly priced.

This Orange slider cell phone recently hit Korean shelves. The phone looks like a RAZR model. Motorola Z6m comes with 3.5mm ear jack to let people enjoy music, take picture with a 2 MP camera and store on 2GB storage. The Z6m also equips a file viewer, e-book and much more.

Motorola Z12 Zine 5 megapixel camera phone??

The information about upcoming high megapixel Motorola camera phones keeps leaking piece by peace. First its start with 5 megapixel Motorola/ Kodak cameraphone back in October. Then, few weeks ago, the existence of 5 mpx Motorola handset was confirmed by Motorola Spain.

Today, if the image on Chinese tech site
IT168.com is for real, we may have first visual confirmation of this phone:

The phone should be announced in Q1 2008 and is supposed to be a successor of Moto Z10 3.2 megapixel cameraphone, so would probably be numbered as Motorola Z12, under the ZiNE brand.
According to the earlier reports, Moto ZiNe Z12 should also come equipped equipped with GPS navigation chip and Wi-Fi connectivity.
However, there are a couple of problems with the todays news.
Earlier reports told us that Motorola ZiNe Z12 should have a slim “candybar” form factor, but the current picture fragment indicates a slider shape.
Another problem is with the early release of Motorola Z12 Zine. We haven’t even got the announcement of Moto ZiNE Z10 yet, despite the leaked press shots & specs, and being on display as a prototype, during Symbian smartphone show way back in October.

To release both Moto Z10 and it’s successor Moto Z12 Zine simultaneously, seems like a odd move. Although Motorola’s situation in a 2007 cellphone market looks rather desperate, and calls for some unorthodox measures.

Maybe this would be a part of some big MOTO push to regain lost positions and momentum, that will start early next year, during CES Las Vegas or 3 GSM Barcelona shows?

Motorola Z8 Ferrari Limited Edition

In addition to Ferrari colors and logos, MOTO Z8 Ferrari Limited Edition comes bundled with 2 Ferrari videos, pre-registration to the official Ferrari site (www.ferrariworld.com), custom Ferrari wallpapers and ringtones, direct links to to online Magazines like Top Gear, Auto Express, GQ, Esquire and Autosport, and a bundled “The Bourne Identity” movie.

I’m sure it will appeal to some diehard Ferrari and MOTO fans, but otherwise it’s just plain old Motorola Z8 RIZR phone.

And it won’t even be available for Christmas. MOTO Z8 Ferrari Limited Edition will come on sale through Ferrari Store and major Motorola retailers in Q1, 2008.

8 Megapixel Motorola Z12 Zine coming next summer?

According to Spanish gadget blog Gizmos.es, Motorola is already working on as yet unannounced MOTO Z10 RIZR multimedia handset successor , probably called Motorola Z12, as a part of new multimedia phone line-up, called ZiNE.
The rumored MOTO ZiNE Z12 should feature 8 megapixel camera and 3x optical zoom, is developed together with Kodak and should be announced next summer. MOTO Z12 will have the same kick-slider form factor as Z8 and Z10, but will be a little bigger to accommodate larger touchscreen. Motorola Z12 ZiNE will keep the physical keyboard and will add Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS chip.

According to Gizmos.es, they were able to extract all this juicy info from Motorola reps after the official RAZR2 V8 launch event in Spain, yesterday.
The description of Motorola Z12 fits very nicely with a blurry picture of
8 mpx Motorola Scarven prototype, we showed you last month. On the other hand it contradicts a bit the info about Motorola’s future handset strategy under 4 mobile phone lines: RAZR, ROKR, ZOOM and Multi Q.
No way to be completely sure, but I think that both of these reports are true. Motorola is steadily loosing ground in mobile phone market and desperately needs both a new strategy and new extremely attractive handsets to get back on top.
3.2 megapixel Moto Z10 won’t do and it’s even too late for a 5 mpx flagship to garner much media and consumer attention, especially outside the United States.

The 8 megapixel Kodak camera with 3x optical zoom featuring MOTO Z12 ZiNe (confirmed) smartphone, with big and bright 2.8″ VGA (640×480 px), 16 million color touchscreen, Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities, would be just the phone to revive Motorola’s fortunes and to lead the already confirmed 20-30 new Motorola handset line-up of 2008.
